Preventative Care

Preventative care in the office includes regular cleanings, exams, x-rays and topical fluoride applications. Preventative home care includes brushing and flossing daily to remove plaque and food debris. This will aid in preventing cavities, gingivitis and periodontal disease. Electric tooth brushes are great ways to make home care more efficient. Water flossers are also a great tool to help remove plaque and debris from in between the teeth, under the gums and around bridges, crowns and orthodontic brackets (braces).

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry includes multiple types of sedation. At Platinum Dental we offer Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) in the office. Dr. Platt also performs dental treatment at Baylor Scott & White Texas Spine & Joint hospital for our specials needs (adolescent and adult) and younger (pediatric and adolescent) patients that are not able to tolerate the in office setting for treatment. This is performed under general anesthesia by an anesthesiologist.

Pediatric & Special Needs Care

Platinum Dental sees patients from age 6 months and up. Dr. Platt is a First Dental home provider. Dr. Platt typically performs in office treatment for decay starting at age 2. Sometimes due to age or the extent of the decay Dr. Platt will refer the patient to a pediatric dental specialist or will recommend the child be seen in the hospital setting under anesthesia. This is done to protect the child from having future dental phobia and treat their entire mouth in one appointment.

Here at Platinum Dental we see special needs patients of all ages with. Often their treatment and even sometimes their preventative care must be done in the hospital setting. We take great pride in making our patients as comfortable as possible while taking care of their dental needs.
